In this article, I will tell you about the Vislon zippers features and types, as well as things to keep in mind when ordering!
What is YKK Vislon zipper?
Vislon zippers are classified as resin zippers, and are made by injecting resin elements onto the tape. Because pigments are mixed in when the resin is injected, it is possible to make the tape and elements the same color, and this zipper is available in a wide variety of colors.
Among the plastic zippers, this zipper has strong elements and is lightweight, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including bags such as backpacks, front plackets for jumpers, and sports equipment.
This is a recommended zipper for those who want a zipper that is strong but lightweight.
About the sizes and types of Vislon zippers
Vislon zippers are available in sizes 3 to 10 and in all product categories except for Vislon reverse opening.
When ordering, you will need to specify the following,
- Element size product category
- Length
- Tape color
- Quantity
- Slider type
Important points to note when ordering
When Vislon zippers are produced in a YKK factory, they have a plastic top stop.
However, when an accessory or zipper shop priority processes from a long zipper by shortening it, a metal top stop is attached.
(It will generally come with a metal top stop that is similar in color to the tape.)
If you prefer a plastic top stop, this will have to be arranged for factory production at the YKK factory, so it’s a good idea to allow about 3 to 4 weeks for the leadtime, depending on the factory’s workload and the number of items.
Types of Vislon fasteners
Vislon zippers may look simple at first glance, but YKK offers a wide variety of them. I will introduce some of their lineup.
Vislon Standard
This is YKK’s most basic Vislon zipper.
The tapes, elements and sliders are all basically the same color.
Vislon combination type
Vislon’s combination type zipper has tape and elements in different colors.
There are four types of tape combinations: COMB-A, B, C, and D.
The four types of differences are:
COMB-A: Tape and element colors are different
COMB-B: The left and right sides of the tape are different colors
COMB-C: The left and right elements have different colors
COMB-D: The colors of the tape and the elements on the left and right are different.
The type in the photo above is the COMB-B type with different colors on the left and right sides of the tape.
Being able to change the colour of the tape elements on the left and right means the combinations seem endless…!
Vislon metallic color
This is a Vislon zipper with metallic colored elements.
It comes in 6 colors and looks like a metal zipper, but it’s lightweight because it’s made of Vislon. Recommended for those who want something lightweight!
Vislon METALUXE
This Vislon METALUXE is a zipper that further pursues the look of a metal zipper.
But the metallic color we introduced earlier also looked like a metal zipper, right?
If you look at the shape of the elements, you will clearly see the difference between METALUXE and Vislon’s metallic colors.
What do you think? I think the METALUXE element shape is sharper and more accurately replicates a metal zipper.
The elements are available in a wide range of colors, including six regular colors and seven colorful high-brightness colors.
If you like metal zippers but don’t want the weight, we recommend METALUXE!
*The element is thinner than that of regular Vislon, so please avoid using it in situations where excessive load will be applied.
Vislon METALUXE Tough
This is a member of the MATALUXE family, but was developed for bags and, as its name “Tough” suggests, is stronger than regular Vislon.
When using METALUXE Tough with a backpack or other bag, you can rest assured even if the zipper is pulled or subjected to stress!
The elements are available in three colors. (antique gold, antique silver, and metallic black)
