The other day, I had the opportunity to visit the exhibition of Morito Apparel, a specialized trading company for fashion accessories.
Among the many items on display, the one that caught my attention the most was the “Block Tapey,” which I’d like to introduce to you.
What is “Block Tapey”?
Block Tapey is a specialized variation of a tape snap fastener, designed so that the individual blocks interlock with each other, allowing it to function similarly to hook-and-loop fasteners.
It’s mainly used for cuffs, plackets, hems, pockets, and bags.
It has also won the Innovation Award at the “Performance Days” trade show in Germany.
What are the benefits?
At first glance, you might think it won’t fasten properly unless the blocks are perfectly aligned—but it actually attaches securely even if they’re slightly off, so it’s reliable even when you’re in a hurry.
Regular hook-and-loop fasteners are fine, but don’t you find the ripping sound a bit bothersome?
The hook side can also catch on sweaters or scratch your hand.
With Block Tapey, you don’t have to worry about any of that.
It’s a great option for anyone concerned about noise or snagging.
And the unique feeling when attaching and detaching it?
It’s surprisingly addictive! (Haha)
Block Tapey is still in development, too.
One version of Block Tapey currently in development uses Hytrel® for the resin parts.
Compared to conventional Tapey fasteners, it offers a softer feel against the skin and a gentler snapping mechanism.
The white one is the Hytrel® version.
Visually, there’s almost no difference, but when you touch it, you can feel that it’s slightly softer.
